General Purpose Resins
A full range of general purpose resins from standard grades to Lloyds Approved grades,
grades with high heat deflection temperatures and grades with better than normal water
resistance. Low reactivity, medium reactivity and high reactivity resins are available.
Blends of Orthophthalic and Dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) are also available which have
lower styrene emission, faster cure, lower shrinkage and better glass wet out.
Chemical Resistant Resins
A range of Isophthalic for various applications and all Lloyds Approved are available.
Our Isophthalic resins meet the South African Bureau of Standards Grade R and Grade T
standards for heat deflection temperature (HDT). Typically these range from 95 °C to 134
°C and are suitable for use in the marine, tank, swimming pool and composites
construction industry.
Modifications resulting in enhanced glass wetting capability means lower resin to glass
ratios can be achieved and the addition of flexibilising agents result in better impact
resistance.
These high quality resins can be tailor made for specific requirements including the
incorporation of Neopentyl Glycol for increased water resistance.
Casting Resins
A range of casting resins for electrical castings, filled and ice clear decorative
castings is available. Flexible casting resin is used for ballast and choke manufacture to
seal off the electrical circuitry.
Fillers such as calcium carbonate (Kulubrite and Kulucoat), silica flours, cenolite,
fillite and Aluminium Trihydrate are available for use with these resins.
Fire Retardant Resins
We have available polyester resins that are fire retardant to a level meeting the
British Standards 476 Part 6 & 7 Class 1 specifications and British Standards 6853 for
Fire Precautions in Rolling Passenger Stock. These resins are available for use with
chopper gun or hand lamination applications. Documentation is available on request.
We have available phenolic resins that are fire resistant suitable for hand laminating
and RTM applications.
Acrylic Sanitary Bath Resins
These are resins designed for use as backing up reinforcements to acrylic sheets used
in the production of baths. They are pigmentable and contain an "etching" agent
to improve the bond to acrylic sheets. These resins are highly filled or extended leading
to cost savings in resin used. The fillers impart rigidity to the cured resin thus leading
to further cost savings as glass content can be reduced. Glass reinforcement is generally
more expensive than fillers.
